The Shri Samarth Paduka Prachar Yatra is familiar to many in Maharashtra and outside Maharashtra as well. The noble idea of this preaching tour was conceived in 1950 AD by S.B. Baburao Vaidya, the then President of Shri Samarth Seva Mandal, Sajjangarh. It was difficult for devotees to come and stay at Sajjangarh during that period.

Therefore, the first Shri Samarth Paduka Prachar Yatra was taken to Badrinath in 1950 AD with the folk welfare intention that we should go to the devotees and make them benefit from the darshan of Samarth Paduka and people should be introduced to Samarth and his philosophy through Kirtan, Pravachan, Bhiksha Pheri etc. Along the way, the felicitation of Samarth Padukas in Pune and Mumbai reflected the faith of the people in Samarth. The visit was a great success. Since then, the tour has been organised in a very structured manner every year till date.

The alms from this preaching tour facilitated an open-door granary at Sajjangarh, and the donation spurred restoration and development. These visits led to the spread and propagation of Samarth literature and Samarth Bhakti, and devotees began to throng Sajjangarh. For this, the Samarth Seva Mandal provided a road to Sajjangarh for the devotees, ST facilities, free accommodation and food offerings. These visits resulted in permanent association of eminent personalities and scholars from different walks of life.

श्री समर्थ पादुका प्रचार यात्रा महाराष्ट्रात आणि महाराष्ट्राबाहेरही अनेकांना परिचित आहे. या प्रचारयात्रेची उदात्त कल्पना १९५० मध्ये सज्जनगड येथील श्री समर्थ सेवा मंडळाचे तत्कालीन अध्यक्ष एस.बी. बाबुराव वैद्य यांनी मांडली होती. त्या काळात भाविकांना सज्जनगड येथे येणे आणि राहणे कठीण होते.

म्हणूनच, १९५० मध्ये पहिली श्री समर्थ पादुका प्रचारयात्रा बद्रीनाथ येथे लोककल्याणाच्या उद्देशाने नेण्यात आली होती की आपण भक्तांकडे जावे आणि त्यांना समर्थ पादुकाच्या दर्शनाचा लाभ घ्यावा आणि कीर्तन, प्रवचन, भिक्षाफेरी इत्यादींद्वारे लोकांना समर्थ आणि त्यांच्या तत्वज्ञानाची ओळख करून द्यावी. वाटेत, पुणे आणि मुंबईतील समर्थ पादुकांचा सत्कार लोकांचा समर्थांवरील विश्वास प्रतिबिंबित करतो. ही भेट खूप यशस्वी झाली. तेव्हापासून, आजपर्यंत दरवर्षी हा दौरा अतिशय संरचित पद्धतीने आयोजित केला जात आहे.

या प्रचार दौऱ्यातून मिळालेल्या दानामुळे सज्जनगड येथे खुल्या दालनाचे बांधकाम झाले आणि या देणगीमुळे जीर्णोद्धार आणि विकासाला चालना मिळाली. या भेटींमुळे समर्थ साहित्याचा आणि समर्थ भक्तीचा प्रसार आणि प्रसार झाला आणि भाविक सज्जनगडमध्ये गर्दी करू लागले. यासाठी समर्थ सेवा मंडळाने भाविकांसाठी सज्जनगडला जाणारा रस्ता, एसटी सुविधा, मोफत निवास आणि अन्नदानाची व्यवस्था केली. या भेटींमुळे विविध क्षेत्रातील प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्ती आणि विद्वानांचा कायमचा सहवास निर्माण झाला.
